Saaret wallows in wounds. It is a response to the insanity of pretending like the torment of others does not concern us. When we turn away from those who suffer, our willful ignorance eventually turns into guilt. We become the victims of our own neglect. “Saaret” is an open wound, a festering reminder that we are all complicit in the violence of history. We hold the keys to the gulag, and we watch migrants drown in the Mediterranean.
